Why Choose Us???
Choosing the right lawyer to guide you through the adoption process makes all the difference. We want to take a moment to tell you what really sets The Vaughan Firm apart.
  1. Knowledge- Adoption is a highly specialized area of the law. Just as you wouldn.t go to your family doctor if you needed brain surgery, it makes sense to choose a lawyer who practices only adoption law for your adoption. I practice exclusively adoption law because I have a passion for it and understand how important it is that it be done correctly at every step. We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys to ensure that we are meeting the highest standards for ethics and client service.

  2. Availability- Although we have a busy law practice, we are never too busy to respond to our clients. The Vaughan Firm has a policy of returning all calls within 24 hours, and in truth we return most calls the same day. Because we understand that adoption can be stressful, we also have extended calling hours for birth mothers and adopting families who are actively in the adoption process. If you have an urgent question, you will get a quick answer.

  3. Compassion- I believe that adoption is a special area of the law because it touches on the most precious part of your life: Your family. A good adoption lawyer absolutely needs to know the law, but they also have to have a listening ear and an understanding heart in order to earn the privilege of helping people grow their families or make adoption plans. The first step is to listen to your hopes and concerns so that together we can craft a plan that works for you.

  4. Thoroughness- Adoption is never just about adoption. Maybe a birth mother also needs advice about how to find and pay for her prenatal care. Maybe an adoptive family is concerned about attachment issues or how their children will react to having a new adopted brother or sister. Maybe the adopted child has special needs and requires special services. The great thing about our adoption-only practice is that we have the experience and connections to advise you on all the issues that touch on adoption, treating the client as a whole person rather than just a legal case.
